The vision of starting Church
Introduction
The inception of Deliverance Church Embulbul traces back to the early 1970s, when a group of brethren with a vision to spread the gospel in Maasailand began meeting around the Embulbul area. This vision materialized into reality with the first service held on Sunday, February 8, 1998. Guided by the steadfast leadership of Pastor Peter M. Mueti, the church embarked on a journey of faith, facing challenges and celebrating victories as they pursued their vision.
Early Challenges and Growth
The nascent stage of the church was not without its hurdles. Just two months after Pastor Mueti and his family assumed leadership in October 1998, significant challenges arose. A crucial segment of their congregation, comprising boys and their teachers, relocated to Eastleigh Deliverance Church. Undeterred, the church leadership, under Pastor Mueti’s guidance, sought alternative arrangements. With divine favor, they secured permission from Rev. Gichuhi of the PCEA church to build a church structure behind Umoja shops.
Remarkable Growth
Despite the initial setback, the years 1999 to 2001 witnessed remarkable growth for Deliverance Church Embulbul. The congregation expanded significantly, necessitating the acquisition of their plot of land. Initially purchasing a small plot, approximately a sixteenth (1/16) of an acre, the church later secured a half (1/2) of an acre piece of land from Paramount Chief Idd of Embulbul in July 2001. Through faith and perseverance, they raised the necessary funds, completing the transaction within months. Reflecting on this pivotal moment, Pastor Mueti acknowledges, “God enabled us to get the amount within the time.”
The Building Project
With the acquisition of land came the vision to build a sanctuary worthy of God’s glory. Construction commenced in February 2002, culminating in the completion of the new sanctuary. The journey towards this milestone was not devoid of challenges, yet the church’s faith remained unwavering. Pastor Mueti recounts, “We embarked on constructing a three-storey church… Surely a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step.” Despite concerns about member retention during the construction phase, Deliverance Church Embulbul experienced increased attendance, a testament to God’s faithfulness.
Outreach and Expansion
While steadfast in their commitment to building a physical sanctuary, Deliverance Church Embulbul remained equally devoted to spreading the gospel beyond their immediate vicinity. Through God’s grace, they established churches in various parts of the country, including Namanga, Flyover, Maseno, Karen-End, Kimuka, and Ewaso-Kedong. Pastor Mueti attributes these achievements to divine intervention, affirming, “To God be the Glory.”
Conclusion
The vision of Deliverance Church Embulbul, conceived decades ago, has blossomed into a testament of faith, perseverance, and divine favor. From humble beginnings to the completion of a magnificent sanctuary and the establishment of numerous outreach churches, the journey of Deliverance Church Embulbul underscores the power of unwavering faith and steadfast commitment to God’s vision. As Pastor Mueti aptly concludes, “Where there is no vision, the people perish… We shall not perish for lack of vision.”
